It is great to see so many of you here tonight and I want to thank Fran for reminding you all many times about the AGM tonight. It's also great to see so many players on the courts these days and especially now the warm weather has started. I have also noticed recently there are many more younger players on the courts. We are still fortunate to have Pardy keeping a key for us and to keep a record of the users. Social mornings during the week still have a regular turnout of players and at the weekend Saturday morning is still very busy with the family session. On Sunday mornings I continue to still see the Sunday guys playing, followed by any matches that are booked. Club matches then take place on a named Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the autumn and winter, or in the summer on a Monday evening. Thursday is the time for coaching adults, taking place in the morning and then the juniors in the afternoon. Thanks to all those who assist in making this possible.
Steve Hunt our head coach continues to work with us giving adult and junior players the benefits of his skills. He also assists in the summer and at half term breaks and holidays when we run a number of coaching sessions. There is generally a good turn out. This winter the weather was poor so regular play on the courts was restricted. I even saw Steve clearing the snow which pretty much took him a day. His commitment is unbelievable. Jenny Lark continues to give her time assisting and coaching our younger players. Jenny is also continues to coach at All Saints Primary School in Datchworth on a Friday.
Malcolm, Debbie and Anna are to be thanked for all their hard work they have put in at organising tennis matches. Anna runs the Orchard Ladies Team. These are friendly matches against other local clubs and have proved to a good social event. I hope that they will be happy to continue in these roles. Please remember prompt replies to emails and dates will make there jobs much easier. Thanks again to Malcolm who has just set up a Vets team. They have also made a very impressive start. We have 2 teams competing in the Datchworth summer league and one team in the Autumn league. At present we still have a team participating in the East Herts mixed doubles league. This year the childrens first trophy competition took place and from memory there were over 20 entrants. Thanks again to Fran for organising this successful event.
Steve will report on the coaching for the last 12 months.
Malcolm will be reporting on the matches later.
Chris Tuck - Thanks for some great work by Chris for our new website. It’s very impressive and will show all existing members and potential new members what we are about.
Chris has also managed to give us some great spreadsheets showing detailed membership.
We again held the club championships with new rules agreed by Malcolm for the second year and it ran smoothly again.
RESULTS of this competition will be mentioned by Malcolm.
Last year we managed to run 2 quizzes. Total raised was £703.20 Thank you for all your support and thanks to Fran who organised both events.
The tennis Club Xmas dinner was enjoyed by over 25 people at the Papillion at Stapleford. The second event for the club and as it was such a success we are organising another event this year. We also had a raffle with some great prizes donated and thanks to those who donated prizes.
Many thanks to everyone who has been mentioned and to all those who have helped in various ways to make this a successful tennis club.
